On the 30th of March, at 13h30, we will be pleased to welcome Anne Lorène Vernay, Associate Professor at Grenoble Ecole de Management, on "Avoiding failure during the emergence of asset-intensive ecosystems: The case of hydrogen mobility"

Abstract:

This paper analyses the emergence of asset-intensive ecosystems. The paper presents four inherent characteristics of these ecosystems- supply and demand uncertainty, capital intensive, prone to technological lock-in and geographically anchored. It argues that these characteristics strongly influence three processes that are central in ecosystem emergence: value discovery, design of collective governance and inscription of infrastructure. Using the case of the emergence of a regional ecosystem around hydrogen mobility, this paper discusses how the orchestrator can avoid failure in the emergence of an asset-intensive ecosystem.

 Bio: 

Dr. Anne-Lorène Vernay is Associate Professor of Strategy at Grenoble Ecole de Management. Her research focuses on how organisation transform their business model in response to the energy transition. She is also interested in how business ecosystems emerge to enable the materialisation of new energy services. Her research spans strategic responses of incumbent actors, entrepreneurial firms and community organisations.
