Le tournant néolibéral qui s'est opéré en Europe depuis 1980, outre des phénomènes macroscopiques et externes tels que la déréglementation, la privatisation ou une plus grande flexibilité du marché du travail, a également un impact au niveau microscopique et individuel, modifiant la perception et la valeur que l'homme contemporain attache non seulement à son activité professionnelle, mais aussi à son rôle social. En d'autres termes, avec l'avènement du néolibéralisme, nous assistons à un changement de paradigme culturel, que ce projet entend reconstruire et étudier en choisissant comme point d'observation des productions artistiques et discursives.
Le projet LabourNarr est transmédiatique et vise à étudier trois formes différentes de représentation culturelle (littérature, cinéma et séries télévisées) qui, entre les années 1980 et aujourd'hui, ont représenté, directement ou indirectement, des sphères disparates du travail, telles que l'usine, l'entreprise, l'emploi public ou le travail indépendant. L'objectif est d'isoler et d'étudier certains éléments clés, tels que la représentation de catégories sociales particulières (par exemple, l'ouvrier, l'employé de bureau, le chômeur), de thèmes socialement pertinents (par exemple, l'égalité des sexes, le rapport à l'environnement), ou de concepts particulièrement influents (par exemple, le mérite, la réussite, l'égalité), et d'observer leur évolution sur une large période. Ces représentations sont considérées, d'une part, comme un miroir de la société européenne des quatre dernières décennies et, d'autre part, comme un vecteur de circulation, d'affirmation et de résistance d'idées et de visions politiques. La recherche portera sur les représentations culturelles produites dans trois aires linguistiques et culturelles romanes : l'Italie, l'Espagne et la France : Italie, Espagne et France.

The neoliberal turn that has taken place in Europe since 1980, in addition to macroscopic and external phenomena such as deregulation, privatization, or greater flexibility in the labor market, also has an impact at the microscopic and individual level, changing the perception and value that contemporary man attaches not only to his professional activity, but also to his social role. In other words, with the advent of neoliberalism, we are witnessing a cultural paradigm shift, which this project intends to reconstruct and study by choosing artistic and discursive productions as its point of observation.
The LabourNarr project is transmedia and aims to study three different forms of cultural representation (literature, film, and television series) that, between the 1980s and today, have represented, directly or indirectly, disparate spheres of labor, such as the factory, the company, state public employment, or self-employment. The goal is to isolate and study certain key elements, such as the representation of particular social categories (e.g., the factory worker, the office worker, the unemployed), socially relevant themes (e.g., gender equality, the relationship to the environment), or particularly influential concepts (e.g., merit, success, equality) and to observe their evolution over a broad period. These representations are seen, on the one hand, as a mirror of European society over the past four decades, but, on the other hand, as a vehicle for the circulation, affirmation, and resistance of political ideas and visions. The research will be conducted on cultural representations produced in three Romance linguistic and cultural areas: Italy, Spain, and France.
